I love how the act of preparing to worship our Savior unites us as a family and fills our souls with joy every Sunday morning.

I’ve got a cold, so I took Molly home after the first hour. Chrysanthemum and I were talking about how whenever we’re home sick from church we feel guilty (or the house is blessedly quiet) so we usually end up cleaning or cooking something special even though it’s a day of rest and even though we’re not feeling well. So when the family got home a little after two p.m. there was freshly ground wheat bread in the oven and a pork roast with carrots and potatoes in the crockpot for dinner.
There was also leftover homemade Thai hot and sour chicken-mushroom-red bell pepper-coconut soup ready for the immediate heating. Tom looked around, disappointed, and said, “I hoped you’d put in chicken nuggets for us.”

Chicken nuggets (or the dino kind) are generally preferred over the fancier stuff around here as well…

Hey — didn’t you post some fancy thing with Dino nuggets? I need to go look it up, bec. that’s what Tom requested for tonight.

Well, I did this dinner: http://bit.ly/9jAF58, but the Dino Nuggets were just nuggets with a side of fancy stuff. BUT I have used them in soft tacos with all the toppings and chopped up on top of a salad with tomatoes, corn, avocado, bacon pieces, etc. WAIT! I just remembered–yes! I’ve used them as a sort of chicken parmigiana: spaghetti noodles, spaghetti sauce, nuggets and mozzerella cheese! (Okay, now I’m scaring myself with how many ways I can fix up those babies!)
You look great! And Tom’s remark is so typical, isn’t it?
I take my day of rest quite seriously. And when I’m sick I take it doubly so. Yesterday dinner was frozen burritos and Rhodes rolls. (Usually I do a crock pot meal, but sometimes I forget.)
I do this for 25% worship reasons and 75% laziness. If I have an excuse to lay off the housework that is religiously sanctioned there is no way I’m not taking it. Cultural norms or not.

I’ve gotten laxer and laxer about the Sabbath as the Sabbath for several years. The cleaning is part of my Martha complex and partly just necessity because I’m still recovering from Saturday morning chores as a kid. It’s something I really need to work on.
And he’s still alive…
OOOOoooo HOoo HOoo. I would not be nice. It never fails. You try and slave and fret and they prefer/compliment what takes you zilch (Read:is ready made crap). I tell C all the time, I’m not trying anymore. Hope you got some rest.
I would come over for fresh bread and roast any day or night. Let’s let the rest of them fend for themselves.
P.S. Maybe it’s just my mood or spiritual climate right now, but love the first line.
Just wondering why you and Mollie are the only 2 who are smiling in this photo – sort of like you two share a secret and the rest are just a little irritated that they aren’t in on it. Hmmm?

Um, maybe because she is the only one I never yell at?
I love your hair! I wish my hair would do that.
(And I know you’ve got the bald patch thing going on, but in this and a few other pics I’ve seen it looks great, no bald spot visible)
One of the many things that makes me want to live somewhere where it gets properly cold in winter (we’re lucky to get below the 40sF) is CUTE outfits like the one Molly is wearing. I love that, too.

I went to the wig store and came away pretty determined to make do with my own hair, despite the biggest inducement — that even if you wear your wig all day every day, you only have to wash it every 6 weeks. But they are pricey — 300+ for a decent synthetic one, which really isn’t that much compared to cuts/colors/shampoos, etc but it’s a big commitment. I dyed my hair the other day, so now if I brush it just right it looks okay. Still waiting for it to start growing back in…. Wish I could pull off the ultra-short look again!
I stopped cooking anything fancy the day I slaved over really fancy turkey crepes, and then nobody would eat them. I decided it wasn’t worth it.

I usually don’t mind because I enjoy cooking and I LOVE eating
, and I promise, if you made me fancy crepes, I’d eat ‘em!
I have to admit I almost laughed out loud when I read this post. Why can I just hear Tom saying that in my mind?
