I love coming home... even if it is just from the grocery store.

I am happy to be an American citizen (I am proud to be a French Citizen too. Don't want my other country to be mad. LOL). There is nothing wrong with loving your country and being proud to represent it. And thankfully we are in a country that we can express our love or distain for anything... including being a citizen. I know there are many countries where you can speak freely also. But I try not to forget that there are many in which you can't. I feel grateful and blessed to be here.

I know what you mean, as much fun as traveling is, there is always something about coming back home. And America is not so bad a place to call home. Exotic life does some fun sometimes, but I have to say that a Baghdad prison wouldn't make it on my bucket list.

Your last few sentences could describe any number of areas around the world.

When I came home to Canada I felt a minor breath of relief only because I knew I was a citizen and that I had rights as such. I'd be just as happy to be a citizen of any number of countries. When I was gone I did not once have the experience you described of looking forward to being home and being nostalgic in my kitchen. I really, really would live in a new country every couple of years if I could and I really think patriotism can get really stupid no matter what country you're in. Can't wait until that whole one government under Christ thing.

I love change. Always have. I don't get a warm cozy feeling in my belly knowing that my house will be my home forever or even that my town will be. I did feel that a little bit when I moved here but that was because I was unhappy with our living conditions for eight years prior. Now I'm happy. And I realise I could be happy all around the world.
