I may have mentioned that my girls would be happy on a deserted island with only a few princesses dolls and ponies to play with. Throw in some macaroni and cheese, the orange kind, a few books and a large carton of strawberry milk, and they wouldn’t care if rescue never came.
But they also like dinosaurs. At the risk of sounding horrifically gender-biased, dinosaurs are basically the only thing they love that doesn’t come accessorized in pink sequins and a matching plastic purse.
So far I’ve held out on Dick showing them Jurassic Park, even though that sentences me to endless viewings of the seventeen Land Before Time movies. And now that we have a pass to the Thanksgiving Point dinosaur museum here in Utah, the kids are getting just about enough of bones and fossils and playing in the erosion table.
Only, you can never get enough dinosaurs. Not really.
So I’m excited that the BBC’s Walking With Dinosaurs tour is coming to Salt Lake City next week. The friendly people there asked if I’d like to give away a family four-pack of tickets to opening night, which is Wednesday, January 14th, 7 pm, at the Energy Solutions Arena (where the Utah Jazz play).

Walking With Dinosaurs is supposed to be pretty darn cool. I mean, if those smarty BBC people are involved it’s gotta be good, right? It runs January 14th-18th, with matinees on Saturday and Sunday. (Not that I’d go on a Sunday, but then, if I were Jewish I wouldn’t go on a Saturday, and if I were Muslim, not on a Friday, so basically, we’re pretty much covered).
If you don’t win the giveaway or you need more tickets (because, hello? Utah? family FOUR-pack?), use the code RAPTOR to get $10 off each ticket.
To enter the Walking With Dinosaurs giveaway, simply leave a comment telling me who the dinosaur lover is at your house before January 7th, and I’ll use the random number gizmo-thingie. If you’re too far away from Utah to use the tickets yourself, enter anyway and give someone you love a surprise after-Christmas present. If you don’t know anyone within an hour of Salt Lake City, enter anyway still. I can recommend several deserving dinosaur-philes to you.

I’m not entering (being both not close to Salt Lake and not knowing anybody close to Salt Lake) but dinosaurs are also one of the few gender neutral toys in our house. Max and Lucy both equally love playing with our sets of dinosaurs. We have begun making an annual pilgrimage to the Heard Nature Museum where we can see life-size animatronic dinosaurs. Very impressive.
So, I happen to know a few people in Salt Lake. Plus, I have a few dinosaur-loving boys here. Hook me up, baby!

My 5 year old son went last year when the show was in Brisbane, Australia – he LOVED it – have fun.
You know I have four boys but you may not know that they are all dinosaur lovers! I don’t know where they get it from. My hubby actually let my older two watch Jurassic Park (and boy was I mad). My boys would love this so much It would even be worth the 2 1/2 hour drive. Cool giveaway!

Just like the above comments i have 2 boys caden 5 and kyson 3 who are just crazy about dinosaurs! when the advertisments came up that the show was going to be in SLC we flipped. the boys are jsut estatic about going. I checked on tickets and seen the price, i then let caden know that he could no longer spend any money out of his piggy bank!! so now every time someone comes over he asks them for their change and explains that he is saving his money to go see ” walking with dinosaurs” he asks everyday how many more days! both the boys have starting growling at me when they get in trouble! it is really cute!! this is really one of the best giveaways i have came across!! dad said he is available to go with us so if ou could please enter us in the drawing that would be great!!

Well…it’s a toss-up, really. My oldest son wanted to be a palentologist as a Kindergartner. (He’s detoured through Theater Tech right now.) My youngest son is a huge fan of “Walking with Dinosaurs”. And I’ve been a dinofreak since my earliest days.
Our whole family is fascinated about dinosaurs. We enjoy learning just about anything about dinosaurs, and one of our favorite learning places is the Discovery channel. We live in the Ogden area and have enjoyed both the Dinosaur Park in Ogden, Utah and the Dinosaur museum in Vernal, Utah. Our family would be ‘rapturous’ if we could win tickets to see the Walking with Dinosaurs show!

I’ve got a house full of dino-loving kids — seven, to be exact. They’ve worn out the DVDs (and the carpeting at Thanksgiving Point), and if I see (or step on) another mini-sized monster I may have to donate my brain to Body Worlds. If the posters on the wall, books on the shelves, and enough dino-shaped plastic to supply all the surgeons in Hollywood isn’t proof they’re fans, I don’t know what would be. Let the fun begin! My 2 and 4 year old are dinosaur fanatic’s…I think he relates to them maybe…we’ve been to see the dinosaurs at the Utah Musuem of Natural History but that is all we could afford so far…Thanksgiving Point dinosaur museum hasn’t been in our budget and I think the “walking dinosaurs” may be more of a thrill!
My 5 year old son has always liked dinosaurs, but all the sudden has become a fanatic. I have had to pretend that I know how to pronounce names so that he doesn’t think his mom is an idiot. I just hope that someday he doesn’t repeat my poor pronunciation.

I have three daughters (well technically they are step daughters) who I haven’t gotten to see much lately. They love dinosaurs and are way excited about the show. We weren’t able to give them much for Christmas other than some dinner plates we made for them and some pajamas. We would love more than anything to be able to take them to this show but we are uncertain if we can afford to so free tickets would be a great blessing!

Our 5-year old dino lover, Seth, fractured his wrist (ice skating) three days before he is coming to Salt Lake for the big ski adventure due to start this weekend. Now, he’s wearing a nice cast and skiing is out of the question but he sure would love to spent some time with his prehistoric pals! My 6-year-old thinks he’s going to see real dinosaurs. I tried to explain that real dinosaurs have been extinct for thousands of years but he refuses to believe otherwise. Can’t wait to check this out!
