I leave it to you to guess which pieces she insisted on and which pieces Mom gently persuaded her into.
I plan to assert myself when it actually snows, though. She WILL wear socks with those flipflops, if it’s the last thing I do.

p.s. Dick was thinking to himself this morning (early, as he leaves the house at 5:30) and he realized that the camera is an important part of my blogging, and that since he’s missed seeing pictures in my last few posts, he would have one more look-see in the cushions of the couch for the missing camera (last seen the night I cut my hair). I’d told him it had to be in the couch, but apparently we hadn’t delved far enough into the couch’s innards over the weekend. So Dick went couch-diving this morning, which is much too similar to dumpster-diving at this house, and he FOUND THE CAMERA. So here is a picture post just for you, Dick. Thank you for taking the time this morning to use your Daddy eyes.
Happy Wordless Wednesday!

Thanks Jane. I love the picture. I agree — let kids dress themselves. If they look ridiculous, that’s okay. They’re kids. (I know that wasn’t exactly your point when you wrote “Compromise,” but still, it’s my philosophy.)
What an adorable post this morning… So glad you found your camera so we could see such a sweet little one… Have a great day…

I went sofa diving this weekend and found a whale, a gorilla, and a remote control. It is amazing what you can find in the innards of a couch!
Well, you can’t argue with a little kid’s fashion sense. Really, we must seem so boring to them, what with our matching clothes and socks and being warm.
Our couch holds many treasures too. Such as hair clips, pieces to toys, and my husband’s pedometer for his work walking program. Sometimes the remote and phone go diving too.
Love the pic, made me smile.
My 2 year old has a very definate idea of what she needs to wear — the other day she donned her tinkerbell dress the whole day. Today, thankfully, she let mommy choose.

Just wait until they get older! My daughter – who is beautiful and has a closet full of “girl” clothes appropriate for a 12 year old 7th grader – wears her BROTHER’S hand-me-down t-shirts and boxer shorts (he wore them as underwear, she wears them as shorts) as often as she can. Her current favorite top is a green long sleeved t-shirt that says “This IS my clean shirt.”

November first at our house is considered “Flip Flop Confiscation Day.” All flip flops are confiscated by me and (after being washed) are put away until mid-March. It is not my favorite thing to do, but I find it easier than having the same battle over and over again all winter long.

Cute little rascal!
Whenever I suggest M wears a dress, she only wants to wear one of her good/Sunday/church dresses (all two of them). Not the other fun little el cheapo sundresses that can get paint/pen/goodness knows what all over them. So over here, we’re working on good vs everyday clothes, luckily not summer vs freeze your toes off shoes!
