Haha...the first comment from Lorraine sums it up for me. :) I write to keep my sanity. I'm going to stop by your husband's blog too! Stopping by from Laurie's party. :)

I'd guess it's for lots of reasons, mostly to keep writing, to build a habit. Having a couple hundred people waiting to read keeps me honest, otherwise I'd backslide like I do on most everything else in life.

I wonder where Blog-Famous falls on the scale of fame?

This is interesting to me because my husband told me I had to stop blogging. He felt I put him in a negative light, when really I was just trying to get advice from the real friends and the blog friends. I think it is nice that Dick understands that he would be censoring you by asking you to remove personal things.

I love your blog, even if I don't comment much. You are very open and honest. I've had to stop being so honest on my blog to keep the fighting at a minimum. It makes me sad to not be ME.

I blog because it's my outlet. Sure, I love to write, but blogging is like being a part of a family. So cliche, but bloggers make a great community.

I also blog because I live 1,200 miles from my family and many of my friends. It lets them see my everyday life in pictures and words.

Well, definately it is great therapy. But sometimes, there are things that happen in motherhood that no one would believe. I blog because of days like today when our family pet was lost to our disposal.

Ditto on the English major thing. And the part about it being the only forum that truly fits my writing style. And the social interaction.

Okay, I do have one original thought: I blog because it is FUN!

Well, our blog is all about our daughter, and it was started while we were preggers so that we didn't have to email quite so many people with our wonderful, enthralling updates and news. ;) It's pretty much all about Miss M, and I guess I consider the audience to be mainly family and friends. I know my Mum reads it, and prints out pages when there are "enough" for my Grandma. My sister checks it out frequently to update her background photo of her only niece. And now and then other friends refer to a post, and I realise they still keep track of it. I'm on Facebook, but don't put photos on there, so the blog is the place for family and friends to go to for updates on M. And JR posts occasionally, too, though mainly from his phone. If there's anything more than two sentences, I posted it!
I don't have any burning desire to write books or fiction (oh, but travel writing I dream of - assessing hotels, tours, restaurants, airlines ...), but I am a writer (I journal a lot in my scrapbooks), so I guess I do get some joy out of writing on the blog. I suppose it's a form of writing that appeals to me. Also, I'm way behind on my scrapbooking, so Miss M can just read the blog if I don't catch up! ;)

For my family, for memories, for the sake of being able to say what's on my mind and to get things off my mind...because I like words, because sometimes I don't have the words to say, I blog.

I like your husband's perspective on your blog life. It's cool to see how they see us, esp. in regards to how we see them. For me, I started a blog just because we moved away from my in-laws, and I thought it would be nice way for them to see how their grandchildren were doing. It turns out I really enjoy writing, and I had a lot more to say than I thought I did. I have also come to really enjoy the online community and getting to know other bloggers. I feel like I'm part of a sorority of sarcastic, crunchy, opinionated, and funny moms, and that what we all have to say matters to someone in the world. Yay us!

Yeah, I don't know. I guess because secretly I'm a struggling author waiting to be discovered. Perhaps it is because that is what English majors do - write. I guess part of it is that this is the only format for writing that has ever really suited me. I don't think I'm interesting. I'm only slightly funny and I'm most definitely typical. Maybe, just maybe it is because being a SAHM can be lonely and some of the best advice and support I've received as a mother has come from other bloggers. Also, I think sometimes I am more candid, more myself in my blog than I sometimes am in my own life.

Oh, and the ad revenue I generate allows me to stop at McDonalds one extra time a month.
