Good point, Erin. (It's not the not wanting to do it that's objectionable, it's the insinuation that someone else SHOULD have to.)

My version is (and I try to keep this in my head): "I have better things to do with my life (MY LIFE) than ......"

My version of "I don't think I should have to deal with that" is "Are you kidding?" I think it encompasses the same emotions without insinuating someone else should have to deal with something...if I don't want to chances are nobody else wants to deal with it either.

You don't have to offer a kidney to get friends coming into your blog and comment :) they do it anyway! Just wanted to say hello after reading your respond.

I shouldn't have to deal with kids who show up 30 minutes late to a 50 minute class.
I shouldn't have to deal with driving around the school parking lot for 30 minutes trying to find a parking space because there is not faculty parking.
I shouldn't have to deal with students who spend 10 minutes writing a paper that will take me 20 minutes to grade only to fail them at the end of class.
I shouldn't have to deal with the fact that my type A slightly OCD child falls into tears if anything remotely resembling a spider web is near her or her cup is on the wrong side of her plate.

But mainly, I'm glad that at the end of the day I can complain about these unreasonable demands with a man who loves, respects and cherishes me. (Dick, you can thank me later)

Jane, this is so true. I feel like this all the time - I shouldn't have to deal with most of the things I do. I guess I just do it because I love my kids. Sorry about the tub-poop thing. Amazingly, that has never happened to us. Hey, a perfect record for one little thing.

Oh, Dick. That was the wrong answer :) And I don't see how he is going to be able to talk about it on his blog, which after all, isn't a parenting blog... :)
