I've never read this post until now. Lovely the way you (and I guess life itself) put things into perspective.

We are all only small players in this thing called life, I agree. When something larger than life happens it stops us in mundane tracks and forces us to realize our small role. For that reason it is hard not to talk about "where you were" seven years later. We should talk about it. We should remember. Remembering in turn helps remind us to be thankful for all we have, or don't have...thanks for sharing.

There isn't a person among us who didn't feel stupid for feeling sorry for ourselves just before the attacks. Sadly, it's situations like those that force our perspectives into order.

You have a unique perspective, having actually been there. I'm sure glad you weren't any closer.

It's hard to compare our daily drama & hardships with big, important, goings-on in the world. But I am grateful that God is omnipresent & omnipotent and can succor people dealing with all the big stuff & still have love and comfort left for me and my little stuff.

Thanks for that post. It was very touching. We were on our way to work in Houston, and got to go home early since our building was a high rise and all high rise buildings around town closed down.
I've been feeling sorry for myself all day for THE stupidest reason possible. It's hard to remember to be grateful until you get out of your selfishness and your own little "me and the kids and nothing to do but play dollies and keep the kids from fighting" world and think about how much you have to be grateful for.
