… will continue to be known as Makes-Me-Smile Monday for three reasons: 3) The best alternative I came up with was Mull-it-over Monday, which not only sounds like a bad hair choice, but has an even weirder-looking abbreviation (MIOM). 2) As Dick pointed out, people smile for a plethora of different reasons. One can smile in malice or with coyness; in happiness or wryly, with a little twist at the edge of the smile.
My original feeling was that anything in life (almost) can be greeted with some sort of smile as long as one takes the time to think about it in perspective and, even better, create some sort of written (or otherwise artistic) account of whatever it is that one is confronting.
But the number 1 reason to keep Makes-Me-Smile Monday is that I already have a logo for it. I’d like it even better if Picasso had drawn a smiley face in a similar style, but this works for me, and hey, I used Photoshop Elements, with layers, to produce it. And since electronics in general, and computers in specific, are the Antichrist, I know you wouldn’t wish another logo-making session on your worst enemy (or your favorite blog carnival hostess).
I appreciate everyone who took the MMSM survey. I admit to being surprised at what little consensus there was. Only four topics received the top approval rating of 75% with no “ugh” responses. Many topics were evenly divided between “can’t wait,” hmmm. maybe” and “ugh.” And almost no one wants to know why my family couldn’t keep a pet alive when I was a kid. I guess that’ll have to just be a regular post sometime (I know you can’t wait!). On the day of the week, only three people preferred a different day (all Sundays, interestingly), so we’ll stick to Mondays. I have, however, posted a schedule (see MMSM link above), and will update it monthly so that you can plan ahead. That way you can write your post whenever and just link on Monday.
Thanks for all of your writing and sharing. I love reading your posts and hope you’ll find the new topics inspiring! (But if not, I hope you can tailor them to meet the needs of your own creative energy and your blog’s style — please let me know if you have other topic ideas).

Very cool. So is there a preview later today as to what we will be blogging about ?? Would like to try to be on time this Monday so I hoping to get my thoughts together tonight.
If it helps any, the things I voted “ugh” on were things that I found more depressing than “Smile” inducing. And I do want to know why you couldn’t keep a pet alive, but I didn’t have that problem so I’d have nothing to say on the subject. I do have that problem with plants, but have blabbed on about the topic to such excess that anyone who reads my blog is already very bored with it.
Cassie — if you click on the Makes-Me-Smile Monday link at the top of the blog, you can see the schedule for the entire month. tomorrow it’s Food (favorites, strange food experiences, weird allergies, etc).
Marie — I’m pretty bad with plants, too. but since the whole self-reliance discussion, i’m determined to try some container gardening after i get back from utah.
